1. Using The Parlor
These terms describe use of The Parlor’s website, magazine, member portal, community features, events and shop. Read any additional terms presented for a particular subscription, purchase, contribution or event before agreeing to it. If these terms do not work for you, do not use the affected service. Questions can be sent to lindsey@theparlormagazine.com.
2. Accounts and eligibility
Provide accurate account and order information, keep your sign-in details secure and use only accounts you are authorized to access. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. You must have the legal capacity or any necessary permission to enter agreements and make purchases where you live.
3. Memberships and subscriptions
Free and paid memberships provide the benefits described when you join. Some articles, discussions or other features require an eligible paid plan. A free account does not provide every paid benefit.
Prices, currency, billing frequency and recurring-payment terms are those displayed at checkout or in the applicable subscription agreement. A recurring subscription renews as described there unless cancelled through the relevant billing provider or membership controls. Review the cancellation confirmation for its effective date and any remaining access. If a subscription is billed by a different provider, its cancellation process may apply.
Unsubscribing from the newsletter is separate from cancelling a paid subscription or deleting an account. Changes to pricing or material subscription terms are subject to applicable notice and consent requirements. These terms do not remove any statutory cancellation or refund rights.
4. Shop orders and delivery
Check item descriptions, selected variants, quantities, delivery details, prices, taxes and shipping charges before paying. Payments are handled through the payment services offered at checkout. Physical goods may be fulfilled by The Parlor or a production/delivery partner, including print-on-demand services.
Availability and delivery estimates can change. International orders may be subject to import charges or local restrictions as explained at purchase or required by law. Contact us promptly if an order does not arrive so we can investigate with the fulfillment or delivery provider.
5. Shop returns and refunds
For a return, cancellation or refund request, email lindsey@theparlormagazine.com with your order reference, the item involved and the reason for the request. For damaged, defective or incorrect goods, include a description and, where practical, photographs. Do not send passwords or payment-card details.
Damaged, defective, missing or incorrect orders
Contact us as soon as reasonably possible after discovering a problem. We will investigate and arrange the appropriate remedy, which may be a replacement, repair or refund, taking account of your rights under applicable law. Photos or packaging can help an investigation, but do not replace or limit statutory rights.
Change-of-mind returns
You may request a change-of-mind return for unused physical goods within 14 calendar days of delivery. Items must be unused and in their original condition, with packaging where reasonably possible. This condition does not restrict your rights concerning defective, incorrect or misdescribed goods. Contact us before sending goods so we can confirm the correct return address and process; print-on-demand items may have been sent by a fulfillment partner.
Return shipping and original delivery charges
We will confirm shipping instructions before a return. For an accepted return caused by a defective or incorrect item, The Parlor will arrange or cover reasonable return shipping as required by applicable law. For a change-of-mind return, you pay the return shipping costs. Original delivery charges and any deductions are handled according to that policy and applicable consumer law; mandatory refunds are not excluded.
Refund method and timing
Once a refund is agreed, it will normally be returned to the original payment method. For a return, we may need to receive the goods or evidence of dispatch before completing the refund, where law permits. Approved refunds are processed within 30 calendar days after we receive the returned goods, or after approval when a return is not required. If applicable law requires an earlier refund, that shorter deadline takes precedence. Your bank or payment provider may need additional time to display a processed refund.
Made-to-order, personalized and digital items
Some products may have specific cancellation or return conditions, which must be disclosed before purchase. Printing an item on demand does not by itself remove consumer rights. Any exception for genuinely personalized goods or supplied digital content depends on applicable law, the disclosures made and any legally required express consent. Rights concerning faulty, misdescribed or undelivered goods are not waived.
Order cancellations and memberships
If you want to cancel an order before dispatch, contact us promptly. We will check whether fulfillment can be stopped; production may already have started. This does not remove any cancellation or withdrawal rights you have by law. Shop returns are separate from recurring membership cancellation, which is addressed above.
7. Your posts and submitted articles
You keep the rights you hold in your original contributions. By sharing a post through the service, you give The Parlor non-exclusive permission to host and display it to the audience for that feature and to carry out reasonable technical processing needed to do so.
Article submissions follow the contribution consent presented when you submit. Member contributions are unpaid unless a separate written agreement says otherwise; submitting a piece is not a paid commission and does not guarantee publication. Editors may request changes, release a contribution in the member community space, or select it for editing and fact-checking for a magazine vertical. That latter path includes the author’s approval of the final version before publication, as described in the submission flow.
Removing a post or deleting an account may not automatically remove work already published in the magazine, Library or digital archive. Requests about published work will be considered in light of the contribution agreement, editorial responsibilities and applicable law. Do not submit confidential material or third-party content you are not authorized to share.
8. Forums, events and attendance
Members can propose forums; proposals require approval before becoming active. Private or paid forums have their own entry requirements, and moderator roles carry responsibilities to maintain the community guidelines.
Event access depends on its stated audience. Public member events and private forum events are different. Registering for an event does not automatically approve entry to a private hosting forum. A waitlist place is not confirmed attendance; use the event page and registration notices to check your status.
Follow event instructions and any separate host, venue or ticket terms. Schedules, capacity and arrangements may change; report problems to the host or The Parlor. Cancelling an RSVP is separate from leaving a forum. Any paid-event purchase must disclose its applicable purchase and cancellation terms.
9. Magazine content and intellectual property
The magazine, site design and other editorial materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws and belong to The Parlor or their respective rights holders. You may read and share links for lawful personal use. Reproduction, distribution, resale or commercial reuse requires permission unless an applicable legal exception allows it. These terms do not restrict quotation, criticism, accessibility or other uses protected by law.
10. Third-party services and availability
Payments, optional sign-in, media embeds, hosting, email and fulfillment may involve third-party services with their own terms and privacy practices. Features may be unavailable during maintenance or interruptions. We do not promise uninterrupted access or endorse every external link, member opinion or third-party service. Editorial and community material is general information, not individualized legal, medical or financial advice.
11. Responsibility and your legal rights
Nothing in these terms excludes rights, remedies or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable consumer protections. Responsibility for a dispute depends on the facts, the relevant agreement and applicable law. If a problem cannot be resolved directly, the legal rights and procedures available under applicable law remain available to you.
12. Account restrictions and updates
Access may be restricted or ended for material misuse, security concerns or legal requirements, with notice and a route to contact us where appropriate. Restrictions do not automatically remove any refund, consumer or other rights you have under applicable law.
We may update these terms as services change, reflecting the date above and providing any notice or agreement required by law. A material change to an existing purchase or paid subscription remains subject to its agreement and applicable law.
